ACII Supports President Trump’s Fight Against Unfair and Abusive Trade Practices

WASHINGTON – American Consumer and Investor Institute CEO Blaine Luetkemeyer today released the following statement supporting President Trump’s efforts to end unfair and abusive trade practices against America.

“Today, President Trump announced a 90-day pause on some tariffs, notably excluding China, in light of the strong response from many countries seeking to negotiate trade deals with the United States that will be more fair and balanced for Americans. This shows that the President’s approach to trade is already working for the benefit of our country, our workers, and our consumers.

“Make no mistake about it. President Trump’s trade policy is driven by a bold vision for a better future for American workers and an unwavering commitment to fight for it. American manufacturers, farmers, producers, and small businesses have been under attack by foreign nations, especially China, taking advantage of our open markets while fiercely defending their own. President Trump’s tariffs have sent a clear message to the rest of the world that unfair and abusive trade practices that hurt our economy and consumers, and send jobs overseas, will no longer be tolerated.

“President Trump is working to create a more level playing field by securing better deals from international trade partners for the benefit of American workers and businesses. Countries that have taken advantage of us for years are now at the table, ready to discuss more balanced trading relationships. There is no doubt that, with a more level playing field, American companies will dominate the global economy and our markets will thrive in the long run.

“President Biden and the Democratic party have failed and forgotten Main Street Americans for decades. That is why American voters put President Trump back in the White House. He is doing exactly what he said he was going to do – a rarity in Washington. ACII stands with President Trump as he fights to rebalance trade relationships in a manner that will strengthen our economy, reduce our dependence on hostile foreign countries like China, and secure our prosperity for future generations.”
